"Canal Olímpic de Catalunya"

The Canal Olímpic de Catalunya is a canal located in Castelldefels, Catalonia, Spain. Constructed in 1991, it hosted the canoe sprint events for the 1992 Summer Olympics.
The engineer Josep Masó, the arquitects  Pere Rigués/Josep Maria Gutiérrez and the arquitect Mariella Zoppi started this project.


The site of the Olympic Channel has the track channel , used to practice and learn canoeing and waterskiing, windsurfing or optimist. You can also rent boats (kayaks and boats ride) In addition they can also rent equipment: bicycles, inline skates, pedal cars and archery equipment .


It was opened in 1990 on the celebration of the canoeing competitions in calm waters of the XXV Olympic and baptized with the name of Castelldefels Canalo Olímpicus Games.
The artificial channel has dimensions of 1,200 m long, 120 m wide and 3.5 m deep. They share waters with groundwater through their permeable bottom . The lateral limits of the channel are formed by natural stone and the boarding areas and landings are made of slabs of concrete. The lane perimeter Channel has a length of 2,700 m.
Around the channel are two buildings: the Control Tower is a building that has 6 floors and is 22.5 meters.
